Custom Sectional Dimensions: Why One-Size-Fits-All Doesn't Work

Why Standard Sectional Sizes Fail — And What to Do About It

Every living room is different. Every client has unique needs. So why do most furniture manufacturers offer sectionals in only 3-5 preset sizes?

At Hendricks Fine Furniture, we believe custom sectionals should actually be custom. That means any width, any depth, any arm height, any configuration — built to your exact specifications.

The Problem with Preset Sizes

Most legacy manufacturers — Lee Industries, Hickory Chair, Century Furniture, Sherrill — offer "custom" sectionals that are really just modular pieces in fixed dimensions. You choose from their catalog sizes and hope it fits your client's space.

That forces designers into compromises:

  • A sectional that's 4 inches too long for the wall
  • A seat depth that doesn't match the client's preference
  • Arm heights that don't align with adjacent furniture
  • Configurations that don't exist in the catalog

True Custom Means True Custom

At Hendricks, our 14+ sectional models are starting points, not limitations. We can modify:

  • Overall width and depth — to the inch
  • Seat depth — standard, deep, or extra-deep seating
  • Arm height and width — proportioned to your design
  • Back height — standard or custom
  • Configuration — L-shape, U-shape, chaise, curved, any combination
  • Leg style — wood, metal, skirted, or custom
